Abstract
The purpose of the presented paper is to analyze and discuss the advantages and drawbacks of VXIbus message-based and register-based devices. The inclusion of these devices in test systems is considered and the influence of the devices on systems test throughput and programming is emphasized. Solutions to maximize the test throughput of message-based instruments and the flexibility of register-based instruments are presented
