  • Abstract
A polarizing beam splitter (PBS) is designed using one-dimensional grating layer (1-D GL) embedded in a high-index cubical prism. The PBS totally reflects the s polarization above the critical angle, and totally transmits the p polarization by matching the ordinary index of the GL and the isotropic prism index. High extinction ratios in reflection and transmission (> 90 dB) over 1400-1600 nm NIR spectral range, and a wide external field of view of ± 16° are achieved for GaAs 1-D GL embedded in GaP cube.
