  • Abstract
The optimization between processing gain and the coding gain of a constant-bandwidth direct-sequence spread-spectrum system operating in the presence of either a tone jammer or a Gaussian jammer such that the bit-error rate Peb is minimized is presented. During the optimization, Peb is first tightly bounded by two functions, and then the dominant terms of these two bounds are used to obtain a simple indicator function for the determination of the optimum code. The indicator is tested and shown to yield good results
