Abstract
The performance of a fiber distributed data interface (FDDI) network with voice and data traffic is analyzed. A finite buffer is assumed at each station. In the analysis, voice traffic is modeled as an on-off model, and data traffic is modeled as a Poisson process. Through approximate analysis, the average queue length, the average waiting time, and the packet loss probability are derived. Simulation is used to examine the accuracy of the approximation. The effects of TTRT (target token rotation time) on various performance measures are investigated
