  • Abstract
Transportable devices-simulators of electromagnetic pulses, were developed in VNIIEF for different large-scale objects testing of their stability to electromagnetic pulses. They could be delivered directly to the places of testing objects location. Explosion magneto-cumulative generators (MCG), a family of which was developed in VNIIEF, were chosen as power sources for these simulators. Testing objects are protected with simple protective means against MCG explosion consequences. Experiments on creation of pulsed magnetic fields in the volume up to 100 m/sup 3/ are performed. Current pulse formation scheme was used for obtaining of fast growing field. Separate MCGs were assembled into "batteries" for energy increase. Plane electromagnetic waves were created using air strip line, powered from MCG. EMP effect on deepened cable lines was simulated. Influence simulators of EMP and lightning current were experimentally tested.
