Abstract
Compressed Air Energy Storage (CAES) has been touted as the next generation bulk storage technology that is capable of effectively addressing the wind variability issue, and provide flexible and economic generation. This work develops a state space model for CAES that enables to monitor the dynamic status of the CAES storage module. The developed state space model is used to design a simulation based tool that assesses various CAES configurations´ operational and economic performance for a specific geography.
