  • Abstract
Infostation is a novel concept for the intelligent next-generation network that has been proposed to provide adaptive high-speed data services. The Infostation radio and protocol must support the adaptive transmission scheme under a varying fading environment. This paper investigates the system performance and capacity as well as the rate adaptation algorithm for an Infostation system. The throughput or bits delivered when a mobile terminal passes through (walk-through and drive-through) an Infostation cell is analyzed versus the data rates. An efficient channel state estimator is proposed to decide when to change the data rate
