Abstract
The authors present the functional capabilities of an expert-based maintenance system and illustrate its effectiveness in the maintenance of the system. An analytical model is proposed to evaluate the effectiveness of the expert system in terms of reliability, serviceability, and mean up-time. The study demonstrates the possibility of enhancing the reliability, availability, and serviceability of future expert-based maintenance systems
