Abstract
In hybrid electric vehicles (HEV), the emissions of HEV are affected by the start torque performances of the starter generators (SG) greatly. Due to the limitation of vehicle space, usually they are made for flat shape. To improve the output torque and efficiency of the SG, the stator windings are designed into concentrated windings, however the torque ripple will be increased greatly. In this paper, the torque ripple of the SG with concentrated windings is analyzed. A two dimensional finite element analysis (FEA) method along with an average technique is used to evaluate the torque ripple. To reduce the torque ripple, three SG with different structures are designed. Considering the practice the integrated evaluation is provided.
