Abstract
The acting electromagnetic forces at the stator yoke are assumed to be mainly responsible for the undesired acoustic noise emission of switched reluctance machines. The comparison of acting global volume as well as surface force distributions in case of two different constructions is suitable to evaluate a favorable machine design. Thereby, occurring forces of magnetic origin are significantly reduced. In particular, attention is given to the consideration of nonlinear magnetic saturation effects in the proposed numerical computation method.
