Abstract
An approach to the automatic synthesis of mixed sequential logic, called Suture, that takes timing constraints and component delays into account is presented. In addition, since mixed circuitry typically occurs at an interface where communication bandwidth is critical to performance. Suture synthesizes the fastest circuit possible using the specified implementation technology. The novel aspects of the algorithm include: uniform treatment of synchronous and asynchronous signals, an incremental approach to generating a correct circuit, and an emphasis on communication bandwidth that is crucial for the interfacing applications that utilize this class of circuits. Two examples highlighting Suture´s features are given
