Abstract
With the large-scale integration of variable generation sources into electric power system, it introduces significant challenge to ensure sufficient flexibility to manage the variability and uncertainty that has not been experienced in the power system evolution. This paper will discuss and review of the concepts and practice of how the power system flexibility evolved and then provide considerations for examining flexibility in the future for both planning and operational domains.
