Abstract
The paper describes an automatic measurement system for the estimation of both geometrical sizes and physical features of automotive gaskets. The system hardware includes a personal computer and a CCD camera connected to a frame grabber. The system software consists of an original image processing procedure. At first, both hardware and software solutions are illustrated. Then, the whole image processing procedure, including original algorithmic strategies, is described in detail. Finally, experimental results on images of different automotive gaskets are reported together with the metrological characterization of the proposed measurement system
