Abstract
A review of the state-of-the-art in materials used in permanent magnet machines is presented. On-going research for new materials is also discussed. In the end, the impact of these and the up-coming materials on motor design is discussed. Materials covered include: ferrite magnets, bonded neo-magnets, sintered neo-magnets, and other materials.
