Abstract
In this paper, the Hopf bifurcation phenomenon in the presence of subsynchronous resonance (SSR) in a 15th-order model of a single-machine infinite-bus (SMIB) power system is analyzed by applying a Hopf bifurcation theorem. An example of Hopf bifurcation in the SMIB power system with SSR is presented. Stable limit cycles at certain series compensation levels are predicted analytically in this example, and the prediction is supported by simulations
