Abstract
MANET is a deployable self-organized wireless network. Compared with wired network design, ad-hoc network design is more complex due to its own characteristics. Cross-layer design is a new resolution of ad-hoc network design. It reduces interlayer communication time, adapts to network changes rapidly, makes good use of resources and reduces overhead. This paper summarizes universal design methods; puts forwards design principles and one of proper architecture frameworks. These will give some helpful directions for practical MANET design.
