The authors present an overview of Project Volta, an attempt on an electric vehicle land speed record. Speed record cars tend to be of very different design to their circuit racing counterparts. However, Project Volta has enabled the authors to make a subjective assessment of the current level of European technology for all high speed electric propulsion.
