  • Abstract
    Low conducted EMI and unity power factor are important criteria for battery chargers in telecommunication applications. The conventional hard switching boost pre-regulator which is added to improve the power factor of DC power supplies used as battery chargers, often aggregates the conducted EMI emissions of power supplies. A large number of unity power factor topologies have been investigated, as well as a number of resonant power converters. However the interaction between unity power factor conversion and conducted EMI has received little attention. In this paper, unity power factor conversion and sources of EMI are investigated. A low EMI, all soft switching unity power factor power converter is introduced
