  • Abstract
Next generation wireless networks aim at supporting diversified network access via the integration and cooperation of various radio access technologies. The network access selection is the core component leading the mobile terminals equipped with multiple network interface cards to the service continuity and the performance maximization. There are only a few studies focusing on the network access selection scheme with the consideration of multi-radio transmission diversity (MRTD) which increases terminals´ capacity when selecting to access multiple networks simultaneously and executing parallel transmission. In this paper, a terminal-controlled network access selection scheme for efficiently exploiting MRTD with multiple smoothed parameters, state management and utilization efficiency calculation is proposed. Simulations demonstrate the unnecessary selections reduction and the performance enhancement compared with the traditional switched network access selection scheme.
