Abstract
This paper presents a study of the impact of large penetration of wind power on the transient stability of multi-machine power systems. Doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) based wind farms are considered in this study. A new sensitivity based analysis is proposed to identify the suitable location of the DFIG and the effect of sudden change in wind speed in the system. This sensitivity based analysis is used to study the system during fault ride-through (FRT) operation.
