Abstract
Group II introns, found in bacterial genones and organelles of eukaryotes, are potential tools in genetic engineering and genomic analysis. The new properties of group II introns were first explored by ionizing radiation giving rise to multiple cellular and biological effects. Experimental results showed that group II introns can be effective vectors in gene therapy.
