  • Abstract
Both open- and closed-loop experiments were performed in the same five vagotomized dogs to study carotid baroreflex gain. Whole systemic autoregulation was studied for constant carotid sinus pressure. With aid of a model, values of open-loop gain estimated from closed-loop conditions were compared with open-loop gains directly determined from open-loop experiments. Autoregulation significantly affected the estimates of open-loop gain as obtained from the closed-loop method. Results indicate that autoregulation also affects open-loop gain as obtained from open-loop experiments
