Abstract
In this paper we study the joint effect of PN code synchronization and bit error rate(BER) on transmission ranges for DS/CDMA MANET(Mobile ad hoc networks). We obtain the optimum transmission ranges to maximize throughput for such networks by taking into account the PN code acquisition. We are interested in optimally choosing the number of interferers I and the PN code acquisition threshold. The results show that the probability of PN synchronization decreases the expected forward progress per slot compared with previous results. The results also show that the optimum probability p of each terminal transmitting a packet is different from previous results.
