Abstract
Many remote sensing image fusion methods have been provided. The intensity-hue-saturation (IHS) technique is a typical merging approach for its computational efficiency and spatial definition holding. However it results in color distortion as some other fusion methods, such as principal component analysis (PCA), Brovey transform (BT) and so on. Recently, multiresolution analysis methods including wavelet, curvelet, etc. have attracted more attention in the remote sensing image processing field. Although multiresolution-based image fusion approaches can acquire a better tradeoff between spatial and spectral quality, they often need much more computational cost than other conventional image fusion schemes. A controllable remote sensing image fusion algorithm based on IHS transform is proposed with low computational complexity. Visual effects and quantity evaluation results show that the proposed approach with an appropriate control parameter outperforms the conventional image fusion methods in both spatial and spectral domain.
