Abstract
Treatment of cicatrical stenosis of the trachea is very important problem in pectoral surgery. Injury of the trachea, chemical burn of mucous tunic, effect of radiation therapy, and inflammatory disease of the upper airways can result in trachea stenosis. But very often stenoses are caused by reanimation actions including tracheostomy and artificial ventilation of the lungs. During the last ten years the quantity of patients needing reanimation care has increased as a result of acts of God, traumatism, etc. The authors conclude that in the treatment of cicatrical stenosis of the trachea cryotherapy is very effective method for ensuring the patency of the airways. The usage of a cryoapplicator of titanium nickelide allows one to explore the possibilities of cryosurgery.
