Based on the sample survey on 187 rural househlods in Chengdu, this paper empirically analysed the credit demand of the farmers. We find that the rural households are faced with both credit supply rationing and demand constraints. To solve the dilemma of rural credit effectively, formal finance should be combined with rural cooperation finance.
