  • Abstract
    This paper presents the secondary slot effects on thrust production, secondary current distribution and magnetic flux density distributions of high-speed linear induction motors. The evaluation is done by a quasi three-dimensional space harmonic method, which considers the longitudinal end-effects, transverse edge effects and real topology of double-layer winding with half-filled end slots. The ladder structure of slotted secondary causes the transverse effects of solid secondary to diminish and the end effects to decrease. Thus, the thrust increases even when the longitudinal end-effects are high.
