  • Abstract
This paper proposed a new method to locate the source of voltage sag from the measurements taken at the point of common coupling (PCC) which is the point of connection between utility and customer in a power distribution system. The proposed method uses the RMS current and power factor angle, which are the measured parameters at the PCC. The product of the RMS current and the power factor angle at the PCC is then used to locate the source of voltage sag. A graph of this product against time is plotted and by examining the value of the product at the beginning of the sag, the voltage sag source location is determined. A positive value indicates the source of voltage sag is from the customer side and a negative value indicates the source of voltage sag is from the utility side. The proposed method has been verified by simulations and the results are proven to be accurate
