Abstract
This paper provides a detailed analysis of the costs and benefits associated with the implementation of a dual source strategy for custom power supplies, A framework is proposed for analyzing, understanding and predicting the economic impacts of such a strategy. Included in this framework are the potential costs savings associated with increased leverage in price negotiations, higher nonrecurring costs, the expenses associated with managing multiple vendors, and the price-volume curve
