Abstract
Epoxy based products have been used extensively over the past fifty years in a great variety of electrical and structural applications where they are acclaimed for their outstanding dielectric, mechanical and chemical resistance properties. Because of these and other attractive features, they are finding increased usage in high and medium voltage electrical apparatus that operate in severe environments, Such environments include those of extreme temperatures, in areas of high industrial pollution, in seacoast areas where there are high levels of humidity and salt and in GIS equipment where the insulation is subjected to continuous exposure to the effects of the insulating gas SF6 and its possible breakdown products
