Abstract
This paper presents five case scenarios of determining the total energy consumption for each node of the wireless sensor network and also the total energy consumption for the entire network. The number of transmissions made by each node of the wireless sensor network is the one who influences the total energy consumption. Due to the fact that the sensors have a limited energy it is very important to optimize the energy consumption to prevent nodes to go out of energy. In some cases this problem is hard to solve because the sensors are distributed in a large area or because they aren´t distributed using static routes. If one node is out of service the network should change the routes on which the data package is sent to prevent data loss. This problem can be solved by using dynamic routing trees. Data aggregation techniques are also a solution for determining and reducing the total energy consumption.
