  • Abstract
This paper summarizes several considerations to be taken into account in developing biomedical engineering education programs. In the author´s opinion the biomedical engineering education programs should provide advice on how to minimize the safety risks when using the equipment, and on safely features to incorporate into its design. The sources of these hazards and safety compliance criteria should also be provided. In order to achieve completeness there is a need to add principles of safety for bioinstruments to the biomedical engineering educational curriculum. A typical plan of study of safety for bioinstruments is presented
