  • Abstract
    This paper provides an overview of the objectives, scope, content and results “lessons learned” from pilot testing of Hewlett-Packard´s self-assessment procedure for product stewardship. The procedure has been designed to facilitate further integration of product stewardship into HP´s mainstream businesses by enabling all HP business entity managers to: (1) clarify product stewardship´s business significance to their entity specifically, and BP overall; and, (2) establish that their entity´s actions taken and planned are adequate to meet the entity´s and HP´s emerging business needs in this area. The chief value is the increased insight and awareness that the entity general manager and their functional management team should gain from actively reviewing their situation, needs, status and actions with their division product steward. The procedure is being deployed at all of HP´s worldwide divisions during 1996
