  • Abstract
In most permanent magnet synchronous motors, the electrical time constant is relatively small due to a small inductance. This has been exploited with a small parameter perturbation technique to develop observers for both position and velocity using current measurements. In this paper, an algorithm proposed by Shouse et al. (1995) is developed experimentally and evaluated for the closed loop velocity control of a permanent magnet synchronous motor and implementation issues are investigated
