Abstract
A simple, effective, and accurate method is proposed to solve the ray double counting problem in the ray tracing method using the reception sphere mechanism. The principle behind the method is based in characterizing received rays according to the objects they encounter from the source to the observation point and avoiding counting rays with the same characteristics. Using this method, the double counting of rays in the usual shooting-and-bouncing ray tracing procedure can be easily avoided. Results are given to validate the proposed procedure and illustrate the improved accuracy.
