  • Abstract
Detailed simulations of mobile cellular communication systems require long execution times even on high performance workstations. One possible way of alleviating this problem is to execute the simulation in parallel. Most of the parallel simulation approaches to mobile communication systems to date exclude important issues such as signal propagation and measurements of channel interference. We propose a model for parallel execution of mobile communication systems that includes these issues and also discuss efficient partitioning approaches. The model has been implemented on a multiprocessor workstation and we present some preliminary performance results for it. The experiments were made on a Sun SparcCenter 2000 with 8 processors and speedups of up to 4.6 times were achieved compared to a sequential simulation
