  • Abstract
High dimensional spatiotemporal chaos underpins the dynamics associated with life threatening cardiac arrhythmias. Our research aims to construct a reduced-order model of the chaotic dynamics based on recurrent unstable solutions and their dynamical connections. This reduced model will provide a novel dynamical systems approach for terminating arrhythmias. We describe the search for unstable solutions in nonlinear reaction-diffusion models of cardiac tissue and discuss recent efforts to reduce local symmetries that describe multi-spiral states.
