  • Abstract
    In this paper, the adaptive dynamic control problem is developed for a single machine infinite bus system with static var compensator (SVC), the damping coefficient uncertainty and external disturbances, which has a strict-feedback form. Subsequently, dynamic surface control-based adaptive backstepping robust controller is designed to overcome the repeated differentiation of the control input that is observed in the traditional backstepping design method, a parameter updating law and a sufficient condition for stability are obtained simultaneously. Since the controller design is based completely on the nonlinear dynamic system without any linearization, the nonlinear property of the dynamic system is well preserved. The simulation results show that the proposed method has better performance than the conventional adaptive backstepping.
