  • Abstract
Arterial compliance reflects personspsila health. The method of detecting arterial compliance is the key to improve the precision of arterial compliance measurement. This paper presented a method that can non-invasively detect arterial compliance based on the pulse wave theory and the model of windkessel. The correlations of arterial compliance between age and IMT were analyzed by testing 189 cases in clinic. The correlation analysis demonstrated that arterial compliance was negatively correlated with age and IMT(r=-0.64, r=-0.56, p<0.01). The statistic table of arterial compliance also indicated the difference between normal man and patients with elevated blood pressure by testing 240 cases in clinic. The algorithm had proved effective and reliable through the analyses of many cases and lots of clinical tests, which had been applied to the development of LabVIEW-based software for clinical use. Both patients and doctors can turn to this software for the information of arterial elasticity.
