Abstract
This paper is concerned with ideas and methods for the creation of a teaching approach developed to provide insight and creativity to the analogue circuit design process without resorting to the mathematical rigour associated with the subject. Various rules of thumb are identified which assist in intuitive analogue teaching. A powerful manual design optimisation approach is also developed based upon a novel application of qualitative reasoning, to evaluate the performance of a circuit and select appropriate design parameters which improve failed performances once a circuit is simulated
