  • Abstract
Mu Us Sandy Land is located in the arid and semi-arid area, the vegetation is an important factor of ecological environment. Based on the changing rule of surface soil water content and profile water content in the covering areas and the uncovering areas of the two typical vegetations-Salix psammophila and Artemisia´s profiles, according to the variation coefficient of the profile water content, we divide the soil water distribution characteristics of Salix psammophila´s profile into: the rapid change layer, the steady layer and the slow change layer, the soil water distribution characteristics of Artemisia´s profile is divided into: the rapid change layer and the steady layer. The surface soil water content in the covering areas and the uncovering areas of the two typical vegetations´ profiles have positive correlation with rainfall and negative correlation with evaporation.
