  • Abstract
The problem of premature failures of magnet wire insulation used for inverter-fed motors is a hot topic recently. Accordingly, the insulation of the traction motor fed by the inverter is faced with the same damage. It is necessary to establish an appropriate method for investigating the ageing properties and failure mechanism of magnet wire-insulation for the traction motor. In this paper, an accelerated ageing test apparatus for magnet wires insulation used in the lab is described. The inverter used for traction motor is replaced by a high-voltage and high-frequency pulse power source. Procedures of design and test results of the test apparatus are discussed. In addition, all of the functions of the apparatus are obtained.
