Abstract
Damage detection is an extremely important engineering problem. A signal processing method for detecting structural frequency is applied to two moment frames building. This method is based on changes in the seismic vibration response using Hilbert-Huang transform. A comparison between time and magnitude of drops in system frequency and damage is presented. This method is suitable for damage detection of moment frame buildings. Two new concepts will be introduced; First, seismic response is directly used for Health monitoring. Second, the rotational response of nodes as the best option for analysis of damage detection in the bending frame has been introduced.
