Abstract
This paper describes the design of a 2K×1K port space switch ASIC. The space switch ASIC can switch any time slot of the sixteen input PCMs to any of the eight output PCMs, both at 8.192 MbpS (obtained by bit interleaved multiplexing of four 30-channel CEPT standards PCMs). There are eight switching elements and RAM storage to store the switch control for 1K time-slots. It can interface directly with either Intel or Motorola microprocessors. The ASIC is designed and simulated in India. One micron double metal gate array technology is used for the ASIC fabrication
