Abstract
The design of a magnetic levitation system with two degrees of freedom is described in this paper. The system proposed is constructed as a linear motor and can be based either on repulsion or attraction. Levitation and propulsion are obtained through convenient currents applied to a set of forty fixed coils, generating forces that move a vehicle-coil. The electromagnetic fields generated by these currents are studied, and the electronic circuits necessary to generate the currents, interface with a computer and measure positions of the levitated coil, are presented. The equations that describe the dynamics of the system idealized are presented
