Abstract
We propose a simple isosceles triangle shaped dielectric plate phase-shifter with tapered edges on the parallel microstrip feedlines for the offset beam planar antenna. This isosceles triangle shaped dielectric plate enables the beam direction to be shifted because the lines can be given the appropriate phase-shift. The optimized microstrip line width and taper length enable minimization of both the conductor loss and reflection loss. Utilizing the optimal design method to minimize the loss of the phase-shifter, which is described in this paper, an arbitrary beam direction is easily obtained.
