Probabilistic representation of the distribution system restoration times

This paper reports on the results of a detailed study carried out for assessing the probabilistic representation of time to failure and restoration times for a large real urban MV distribution system. Various goodness-of-fit statistical tests (chi-square, Kolmogorov-Smirnov and geometrical adaptation) have been carried out by using data related to the faults occurred during three years of operation. The most suitable probability distributions identified are used to calculate local and global reliability indices by means of an effective characteristic function-based approach.
