Abstract
In this paper, we investigate a “multicode” modulation technique together with interference cancellation for communications over frequency-selective fading channels. In this technique, the high-rate data bits are serial-to-parallel converted into low-rate data streams which are then modulated with Walsh and PN concatenated codes. Following demodulation employing RAKE receivers, interference cancellers are applied to combat intersymbol and interchannel interference. Numerical results show that this modulation method can support high-rate transmissions and a considerable performance improvement is achievable by interference cancellation
