  • Abstract
The land surface temperature(LST) retrieved by using the Mono-window Algorithm based on the thermal band data of the TM or ETM+ from the Landsat in order to study the landscape pattern distribution of xi´an and its dynamic change. using the Fragmentation index, such as Shape index, the Fractal Dimension Index for characterize of the urban heat island landscape. The results showed that: firstly, the urban heat island effect significantly, the thermal filed distribution pattern was consistent with the built-up area from 1988 to 2006. Secondly, the xi´an thermal spatial pattern showed the trend of increasing heterogeneity, but the temperature registered path distribution presents a balanced trend. Thirdly, the LST reached the level with the land use types are: construction zone>; cultivated land>;grass land>; woodland >;water. Finally, The results showed that the UHI effect will trend seriously. Along with the rapid process of the urbanzaion.
