Abstract
This paper reports the status of automotive electronics in Italy, not only dealing with devices already in mass production, such as voltage regulators, ignition systems or clocks, but also with studies and developments for the coming years. Systems such as fuel and transmission management, antilock, multiplex wiring and on board diagnostics are shortly illustrated together with their expected results. Key points to the successfull application are focused, like cost influence of the environment specifications, field reliability and maintenance.
